18. The Legacy of Karl Hess

Updated: Oct 22, 2018

In this episode of The Agora, J. Kent Hastings and I discuss the legacy of the late Karl Hess. Karl started out as a speechwriter for the Barry Goldwater campaign and went on to become one of the pillars of agorist philosophy, yet many libertarians still aren't familiar with his story or his work. He is responsible for what Per Bylund has called "horizontal" counter-economics and the diy culture of the liberty movement.

J. Kent Hastings has written for The Agorist Quarterly and the New Libertarian Magazine. He is also the co-author of the Agorist novel, Anarquia. In the mid-90s, Hastings along Konkin and several other revolutionary thinkers founded the Karl Hess Club.
